Facebook pervert Ryan Griffiths told what he thought was a 14-year-old girl he “would ride” her and sent an images of his genitals.
The 37-year-old befriended a social media profile apparently belonging to a girl called Carla, which was in fact a decoy account being run by paedophile hunters.
After sending a lewd picture of himself, he was told Carla was 14 and she told him what he sent was “rude and horrid”
He apologised but then the next day got back in touch, calling her “sexy” and saying he “would ride” her.
Newcastle Crown Court heard Griffiths has Asperger’s Syndrome, which causes him to act impulsively.
Paul Reid, prosecuting, said the Carla account had been set up by a Leeds-based group called Fleetwood Enforcers.
When he was arrested and interviewed, Griffiths apologised and said he had no intention of trying to meet the “child”.
Griffiths, of Tynemouth Road, North Shields, pleaded guilty to attempting to sexually communicate with a child and was sentenced to a three year community order. He must complete a sex offenders group work programme and 120 hours of unpaid work and was give a sexual harm prevention order and must sign the sex offenders register.
Recorder Simon Kealey QC told him: “There was no attempt to meet up and you have your own difficulties with your Asperger’s diagnosis and you are now deeply embarrassed about what has happened.”
Kate Barnes, defending, said: “There was, thankfully, no child involved.
“The image was sent before it was made explicit she was 14 and the offending happened over the course of one night.
“He has communication difficulties, Asperger’s. He acts impulsively and this is an extreme example of that.”
