4 Ways to Increase Traffic to Your Freelancing Profile

Freelancers have become a vital part of the American workforce, providing companies, brands, and entrepreneurs with the ability to hire-out work on-the-go. That’s probably why the U.S. freelancing industry has swelled to 64.6 million participants today, expected to jump to 90.1 million by 2028.

People are flocking to the work-from-home lifestyle in droves, in an effort to comply with social distancing while also earning a lucrative income. Freelancing is a solution to both of these concerns, which is why so many people are wondering how they can bolster up their freelancing profile today. From sites like Fiverr.com and UpWork.com, to Freelancer.com and Clarity.fm, all of these freelancing platforms follow similar strategies and tactics when it comes time to drum up business.

Therefore, if you’re wondering how you can increase the traffic flowing to your freelancing profile right now, here are four suggestions based on my personal experience as a 6-year freelance writer:

4 Ways to Increase Your Freelancing Traffic

  1. Communicate Instant Trust to Leads: The internet is a big – and anonymous – place. Therefore, people are distrusting when it comes to handing over their money and counting on you to complete a project for them. If your freelancing profile and services don’t immediately provide some kind of trustworthiness to your leads, they are going to find the next seller. One of the quickest ways to communicate this trust is through visual assurance. Make sure your profile picture is a crisp, professional photo with eye contact and smiling. For your services, include at least three different photos of yourself per service to show people you are a real, living, breathing human being who is not lying to them. We are all tired of scams!
  1. Look for Job Boards within Freelancing Sites: Many freelancing sites are hiding a job board-style portal inside of their platform. On a site like Fiverr, there is a Buyer Request portal where you can respond to posted job requests. This way, you don’t have to sit and wait around for someone to take a chance on you. Instead, you can apply directly by offering a budget and timeline. To remain competitive, offer cheaper rates to secure the 5-star reviews you need to raise your prices over time.
  1. Build Your Personal Brand on Social Media: In 2021, there is no longer room to run from marketing yourself on social media. Every single freelancer needs to put effort into making a personal brand across at least two social media sites (I recommend TikTok and Instagram) whereby you provide your experience, knowledge, and expertise on the services you offer. This will not only secure new clients on your profile, but it will also convince your current clients that you are a professional and able to assist them to the fullest extent.
  1. Become a Thought Leader: Nothing is more assuring to a potential client than showing them an article you published online today. It can be on LinkedIn, Medium, ThriveGlobal, or even here at Business 2 Community. Taking the time to write an article, research it, edit it, and publish it will assuage any fears that potential leads might have. Better yet, once published, the article will be exposed to a whole new group of people who will possibly consider booking your freelancing services. Make it a habit to publish one article per week.

As more businesses than ever before take their products and services online today, they are looking for freelancers who can help and support them. But first, before they can work with you, they need to be able to find you. Follow these four tips above for a tangible traffic increase by the end of this month.
